Our neighbours

AT the back of his Turramurra clinic on the corner of Princes Street and Bannockburn Road, our neighbour and vet Jim Thompson leaves a sturdy stainless steel waterbowl – always filled – so that the many dogs which are walking by can slake their thirst. Morning, noon and evening, numerous children, grandparents, and parents who live nearby lead all manner of jack russells, poodles, labradors and ‘Heinz 57′ dogs on their way, perhaps, to our store for organic greens or La Tartine bread, or for coffee at Cordony’s, to choose wine at C’ellar Vie, to pick up a house-made steak pie at Wood’s butchery, a stylish gift at Turn Around Designs, or The Sydney Morning Herald at Clancy’s.
At Granny Smith we’re proud to be part of Princes Street’s vibrant small shopping village. We band together every spring with our storekeeper neighbours to hold the Princes Street fair. This attracts farmer and merchant-suppliers who provide food and wine tastings, we host a sausage sizzle, and we enjoy the support of Bendigo Bank’s Turramurra Community Bank branch. The fair enables us all to build our community and to support local schools and charities.
